River of Words, based in Eugene, OR, is a program of The Center for Environmental Literacy and a part of the Kalmanovitz School of Education. With over twenty-five years of experience, River of Words inspires students ages 5 to 19 to express their observations through poetry and art, promoting environmental literacy through cultural exchange.
As acknowledged pioneers in place-based education, River of Words encourages young people to explore and appreciate the watersheds where they live. Through professional development, traveling exhibits, publications, and community programs, River of Words reaches educators and students worldwide, fostering a network of individuals dedicated to teaching the art and poetry of place.
