Old Dorm Block (ODB) is a historic residence hall located in Portland, Oregon. Built in 1912 and remodeled in 1992, this charming building draws inspiration from old English manor houses, featuring unique chimney structures and whimsical grotesques. Divided into eight spacious residence halls, ODB offers a comfortable and popular living experience for students, with amenities such as fireplaces, balconies, and window seats.
The centerpiece of ODB is the Sallyport, designed in a French medieval Gothic style, which leads to a functioning sundial above it. The building also pays homage to Oregon, the beaver state, with weather-beaten statues of beavers adorning the chimney structure. Additionally, ODB holds a legendary status on campus, with the Doyle owl statue and a rich history tied to notable figures who have contributed to Reed College.
