History
Near East Yoga began in 2002 to offer support the Mysore Ashtanga Yoga community of Portland, Oregon. Stemming from a lasting presence of Ashtanga in the northwest, Near East Yoga has been the longest running studio of its kind, celebrating 14 years of Ashtanga Yoga in June of 2016. . The home to a diverse and eclectic sangha (group), yoga practitioners of all walks of life find merit in the self-paced, vinyasa method of Sri K Pattabhi Jois of Mysore South India. Daily classes, including evening and weekends are offered along side four chanting sessions a week and the occasional workshop or visiting teacher. Open to anyone with a desire to activate in yoga, Near East offers an affordable hide away from the crowds and a subtle path laden with insightful offerings made available through experience and longevity.
