Oregon Department of Corrections formed in June 1987 by the 64th Legislative Assembly, functions under ORS chapter 423. Located in Salem, Ore., it grants administrative oversight and funding for the community corrections activities of Oregon s 36 counties. The department offers interstate compact administration, jail inspections, along with central information as well as data services regarding felons all over Oregon. The Oregon Department of Corrections is affiliated with the Oregon Corrections Enterprises, a semi-independent state agency.
