Micro Systems Engineering, founded in 1979 and located in Lake Oswego, Ore., is a design and production center for microelectronics. The company has a staff of more than 250 employees who develop and manufacture microelectronic modules for bradycardia and tachycardia therapy devices. More than 130 physicists and biomedical, software, electrical and materials engineers work together to develop a broad range of advanced microelectronic components and modules. The company has branches in Denver and Houston and closely collaborates with both Micro Systems Engineering in Berg, Germany, and BIOTRONIK in Berlin. Its facilities develop new platform and system technologies, and one of its research objectives is to design and manufacture chips that support a scalable, configurable platform for pacemakers and defibrillators. The modules are designed to permit new forms of trend analysis using advanced algorithms and digital signal processing in order to improve therapies.
