History
In January 2019, the Jacksonville Community Center (JCC) celebrated its Grand Opening which blended the past -- an 842 square foot cottage -- into a new, modern event facility. The JCC was a major community based effort that involved a 50 year lease from the city for the existing building and surrounding land; a pledge of financial support, collected over 20 years, from the Jacksonville Seniors, Inc (Collectibles and Thrift store); and a successful capital building campaign providing funding from foundations, civic organizations, individuals and businesses. Over time, dozens of volunteers also donated thousands of hours in preparation for an extensive remodel and expansive addition to the original Center building. The JCC is now a favorite event space for dozens of hosted private events such as wedding receptions, bridal/baby showers, anniversary celebrations, holiday parties, business retreats and public events like art classes, children's programs, yoga, tai chi and music jams.
