History
The site of Heron Lakes Golf Club was once the City of Vanport, Oregon. Vanport was the second largest city in the state until it was destroyed by a flood in 1948. The area sat vacant until 1969 when construction began on the Greenback Course. In 1992 the Great Blue Course openned, to immediate acclaim from local and national golfers and writers. Both the Greenback and Great Blue Courses have hosted USGA Championships. The facility is consistently rated 4-Stars by Golf Digest and has recently been ranked as the No. 38 Public Facility in the United States in the Golf World Reader's Choice Awards.
