HistoryGary Rodgers started Northwest Realty Consultants in 1984 to offer services to For Sale By Owners and home buyers as well as traditional listing services. Gary did a survey of 105 people before setting his business plan. He found that some people wanted the standard Realtor handling everything, but many believed they could help with the process with guidance where needed, especially on legal matters. There were no businesses in the valley offering any services to help people sell by owner, or buy property where the agent would work for the buyer. Even if someone has a child or neighbor who wanted to buy their property, no real estate companies existed who would help for an hourly or flat fee. In 1985 Northwest Realty Consultants began publishing Homes By Owner to help coordinate the efforts of For Sale By Owners.
