In 1963, Sam & Peggy Wolsborn, a local home builder and his wife, had a thought. Let's put an 18-hole golf course somewhere in east Multnomah County. He started by purchasing berry farms, one by one, in the mostly rural town of Gresham, about 12 miles east of downtown Portland. With the help of Eddy Hogan, the then head PGA professional of Portland's Riverside Golf Club, Sam designed a course that he thought he would like to play. To him that meant,
