Diamond Fruit Growers is a cooperative that represents more than one hundred fruit orchardists that farm more than six thousand acres of orchards located in the Hood River Valley in Oregon. Collectively these growers produce more than fifty-five thousand tons of fresh pears annually making Diamond Fruit Growers the largest supplier of pears in the United States. Formed in 1913, Diamond is also one of the oldest cooperatives in the country. Its season begins in late June with fresh cherries continuing until early August. Later in August the pear harvest begins and continues until mid-October. The varieties of northwest pears produced by Diamond Fruit Growers include: red and yellow Bartlett, green and red Anjou, bosc, comice, seckel and forelle.
