Coos Forest Protective Association, founded in 1910, is a private nonprofit association that provides protection from fire to its corporate members. Under an agreement with the Oregon State Forester, the association also offers fire protection to several other private, state, county and federal organizations. It undertakes a variety of fire safety training programs that provide education on fire suppression and behavior skills. Coos Forest Protective Association has a fleet of more than 50 vehicles that include engines, tenders, bulldozers, tractors, milling machines, and lift and power hacksaws. Located in Coos Bay, the organization has offices in Myrtle Point and Gold Beach, Ore.
