Founded in 1971, Clean Rivers Cooperative provides mutual aid to companies interested in maintaining an efficient and rapid response to marine spills. It is a member-based, nonprofit organization that offers oil spill response services. Its services to areas in the Pacific Northwest include establishing and maintaining industry standards for spill prevention and spill response; preventing oil and other chemical spills in waterways through regular training; and protecting water resources and communities through effective response to maritime spills. In addition, the cooperative engages in beach and river cleanups, and it participates in events sponsored by local emergency management organizations. Clean Rivers Cooperative is located in Portland, Ore.
