Southern Oklahoma Development Association (SODA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1957, serving as a platform for consensus-building and policy-making to enhance the quality of life and competitive advantages of southern Oklahoma. With a focus on improving rural communities, SODA implements regional policies, plans, and programs that address the needs of the aging population, rural fire defense, and local community and economic development.
As one of the eleven Councils of Government (COG) in the state, SODA is governed by a Board of Directors representing cities, towns, counties, and soil conservation districts from the ten-county region it serves. Through the utilization of financial resources such as membership dues, grants, and contracts, SODA strives to be a high-performance organization that applies creative solutions to community issues, making southern Oklahoma an exceptional place to live, work, and play.
