Security National Bank has remained an independent locally owned community bank through good times and bad. The bank survived the Great Depression, the dust bowl, several recessions, and the oil bust of the 1980s, with roots firmly planted in the Enid, Okla. community. Security National Bank was founded before Oklahoma statehood. It was chartered in 1905 as Oklahoma State Bank and was renamed Security National Bank of Enid in 1935. Security National Bank was instrumental in establishing this foundation, which recognizes outstanding Native American students and awards scholarships. Since its inception in 1995, the foundation has raised funds to award $5,000 in scholarships each year to Native American students pursuing a college education.
