The Oklahoma State University Foundation has been designated by the Oklahoma State University board of regents as the official fund raising organization to receive private gifts for the university. The foundation is a nonprofit corporation organized in 1961 under the General Corporation Act of the state of Oklahoma. Donations to the foundation are used to fund scholarships and various academic programs at the university. The Oklahoma State University Foundation has an estate department, which helps donors set a Legacy Fund that will leave assets to OSU upon the donor s death. The foundation also organizes the Cowboy Calling Program, which raises nearly $1 million each year through phone solicitations.
