The Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation (HACN) has been proudly serving the housing needs of the Cherokee Nation since 1966. With a mission to provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing, HACN offers a range of diverse programs including home programs, college housing, housing rehabilitation, mortgage assistance, new construction, rental housing, and homeowner assistance fund.
Under the leadership of Principal Chief Hoskin, the Housing, Jobs, and Sustainable Communities Act (HJSCA) was proposed in 2019, authorizing $30 million dollars to fund housing rehabilitation, create jobs in construction and related fields, improve the financial and environmental sustainability of Cherokee Community Buildings, and ensure the welfare of Cherokee citizens. HACN continues to fulfill its mission by providing housing assistance and promoting safety through initiatives like the AMERIND 2024 Safety Poster Contest.
