Carl Albert State College, founded in 1934, offers admission to students who have graduated from an accredited high school. The college provides associate degrees and certificate programs in accounting, art, athletic training, biological science, business administration, business education, child development, computer science, criminal justice, health, physical education and recreation, and hotel, restaurant and tourism management. It also offers programs in elementary education, English, history, journalism, mathematics, music, nursing, office administration, physical science, physical therapist assistant, political science, psychology, radiography, secondary education, sociology, speech and theater, telecommunications and zoology. The college has partnerships with Franklin University, Northeastern State University, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and Mid-America Christian University, offering a number of bachelor s degree programs through a combination of Web-based and interactive television classes. It is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. Carl Albert State College also provides federal aid to eligible students, and is located in Poteau, Okla.
