Management and Network Services ( MNS ) was founded in 1996 by NCS HealthCare, an independent provider of pharmacy and ancillary services to long-term and acute-care facilities, based in Cleveland, Ohio. NCS recognized the need to create a program which would benefit affiliated providers as they strived to operate in an emerging managed care environment as well as the synergies that would be created by the program. The first contract MNS received was with a large insurance carrier; the contract enabled MNS to provide statewide rural coverage for their commercial products. Coverage soon expanded statewide to include urban areas and their Medicare product. The initial operations team developed cutting edge information systems that had the capability to track managed care patient data. Additionally, the team developed an affiliated provider credentialing program which qualified MNS for subcontracted delegated skilled nursing provider credentialing. The team marketed the concept to other payors, negotiated contracts and developed a network of affiliated providers ( facilities ) that would satisfy the demands of an ever changing payor market. In January 1997, Management and Network Services became Management Network Services of Ohio, L.L.C The new Board of Managers was comprised of leading industry experts in a variety of fields including skilled nursing facility operations, physician practice consulting, accounting, law and business. Today, TRW Investments and Omnicare are the co-owners of MNS. In December 2003, MNS began utilizing CasePointe, proprietary software designed by Pointe Blank Solutions encompassing all that has been learned in the provider and insurance markets over the past seven years. The new software manages Medical Records, Case Management, Provider Networks, Credentialing, and Claim Processing and has Integrated Document Imaging capabilities. Additionally, CasePointe provides web-based reporting that includes payor specific inpatient census and cost report, top 25 primary diagnoses for inpatients, top 25 hospital referrals based on total inpatient cost, top 25 admitting facilities based on total inpatient cost, provider directory and facility profiles by county including number of patients, average cost, total cost, average LOS, total LOS and average age. Since the inception, the goal of MNS has been to serve affiliated providers as well contracted payors with excellent customer service. The validity of the original business concept can be seen in the network today which is located in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Colorado and Utah with additional expansion imminent.
