Established in 1826, Western Reserve Academy is a private, co-educational boarding and day school providing education to students in grades nine through 12. The school offers college preparatory courses in various subjects including history, English, fine arts, health and ethics, foreign languages, mathematics and science. It also offers various advanced placement and honors courses, including calculus, statistics, chemistry, American history, music and economics. It additionally provides courses in environmental biology, physical science and Mandarin Chinese. The fine arts department of the school offers more than 18 courses and various performance opportunities in music, drama, dance and stagecrafts. The school s activities include choirs, jazz and symphonic winds bands, string ensemble, chorus, art exhibitions, concerts and recitals. Additionally, it provides a wide range of applied arts courses, including architecture, engineering drawing, woodworking, creative writing and Web publishing. Its athletic programs include wrestling, hockey, lacrosse and soccer. Located in Hudson, Ohio, the school also has a library providing various books, newspapers, periodicals, and videos and music CDs.
