Established in 1820, the Union County Sheriff s Office is a law enforcement agency protects lives and properties of the citizens and visitors, preserves peace and prevents crime and disorder and guards personal liberties. It maintains an investigative division that consists of organized and juvenile crime, and victims and families sections. The Union County Sheriff s Office maintains the Special Tactics And Response (STAR) and Hostage Negotiation Team. The office organizes a variety of community programs, such as the Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.), Drug Abuse and Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) and Safety Town. Located in Marysville, Ohio, the Union County Sheriff s Office also maintains patrol, court services, records, communications and community education divisions.
