St. Theodosius Cathedral is considered one of the finest examples of Russian church architecture in the U.S. and the anchor of the Tremont neighborhood in Cleveland, OH, one of the largest assemblies of sacred spaces in the US. The Cathedral’s architecture, size, and interior frescos place it as the preeminent sacred space amongst its peers. The parish was founded by Rusyns, a distinct Slavic people who lived in the Carpathian Mountains. The future citizens, who came to the region and provided the workforce for the oil and steel industries, found freedom of worship and economic opportunity and powered the industrialization of the United States. featured location in the multi–Academy Award winning film, The Deer Hunter, and its portrayal of working-class steelworkers in the Vietnam War era.
