Southwest Adult Activities Center provides a range of services and programs for individuals with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. It is a part of the Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, which was established in 1967. It serves more than 8,000 people in Cuyahoga County in Ohio. The board operates schools, group homes, and early childhood and adult activity centers. The Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities offers in-home early intervention programs for children and their families. It also provides leisure programs for senior citizens. The board offers psychological, support administration, quality assurance, family resources and respite care, and speech, language, occupational and physical therapy services. The Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities also provides supported living, vocational training, community employment, rehabilitation engineering and crisis intervention programs. It additionally offers transportation services through buses and contracted vendors.
