Established in 1982, the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine Health System embodies the values and philosophy of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine who sailed from France in 1851 to serve as the first public health nurses in Cleveland, Ohio. From its Cleveland headquarters, the CSA Health System sponsors ministries to respond to the health, education and human service needs of women, men and children in Ohio and South Carolina. As the parent organization for CSA sponsored health and human service ministries, the CSA Health System provides oversight, leadership and strategic direction to more than 20 ministries responding to community needs in Ohio and South Carolina. These organizations include elder care, educational and human services, philanthropic organizations, and state-of-the-art Catholic hospitals and health care facilities. These organizations are a part of a family of organizations addressing the complex and inter-related needs of the underserved.
