Severance Hall, the home of the Franz Welser-Most-led Cleveland Orchestra, has been a cultural and architectural landmark in Cleveland since 1931. The building is recognized by both the Cleveland Landmarks Commission and the National Register of Historic Places.
A major $36-million restoration was finished in January 2000, led by David M. Schwartz Architectural Services, which sought to maintain the architectural legacy of the structure while enhancing patron services and the acoustics of the auditorium. The orchestra performs on a seasonal schedule, mostly on weekends and occasionally weekdays.
