The School of Bright Promise, located in Steubenville, Ohio, educates students with mental retardation and developmental disabilities of ages 6 through 21. The students are served from the five local education agencies, including Steubenville City Schools, Edison Local Schools, Indian Creek Schools, Toronto City Schools and Buckeye Local Schools. The students at the School of Bright Promise receive classroom instruction tailored to meet their specific needs based on their individualized education plan. Its services, such as adaptive physical education, home living skills, community based education, music program, nursing services, and occupational, physical and speech therapies. Additionally they are offered special Olympics, including swimming, basketball, track, cheerleading and bocce. The school s early intervention program serves families of children of ages up to 3 years who have developmental disabilities. The staff includes an early intervention specialist who is trained in the areas of child development and pediatric disabilities.
