The Division of Refuse Collection is a part of the Department of Public Service, which is governed by the City of Columbus in Ohio. The division collects trash from more than 329,000 households using trucks with mechanical arms to pickup and empty collection containers. Operational for over 100 years, it offers maintenance services for residential solid waste collection, disposal and reduction systems for the residents of the city. The Department of Public Service provides repair, design and construction solutions for roads, highways and bridges. The department also offers pothole repair, street sweeping, and snow and ice control programs. In addition, it offers traffic and pedestrian safety management services.
