The Lake County GIS Department, also known as the Lake County Geographic Information System Department, is a computer system for the input, editing, storage, maintenance, management, retrieval, analysis and output of geographically referenced information. The department supports applications, such as homeland security, property appraisal, civil engineering, natural resource monitoring, economic development, emergency management and dispatch, land and transportation planning, and public health, environment and census analysis. It offers GIS (Geographic Information System) data in different formats, such as digital on CDs, paper maps and online viewing. The Lake County GIS Department is governed by the GIS Board, County Engineer in the state of Ohio.
