Founded in 1948, the National Ground Water Association, formerly the National Water Well Association, is the industry organization for anyone affiliated with the ground water industry. A nonprofit organization, the association is comprised of more than 14,000 ground water professionals, including contractors, scientists, engineers, equipment manufacturers, and various industry vendors and suppliers. The organization s stated purpose is to provide guidance to members, government representatives and the public regarding the economic development, protection and management of the world's ground water resources. The association provides a wide variety of educational programs, including scholarships and fellowships, the annual Petroleum Hydrocarbons and Organic Chemicals in Ground Water Prevention, Detection, and Remediation conference, the annual NGWA Ground Water Expo, and a number of regional hydrogeological conferences and trade expositions. The National Ground Water Association operates from its headquarters in Westerville, Ohio.
