Mitchell's Candy Store Legacy Our candies are bursting with flavor because we still make them the way my parents did when they started our neighborhood candy store -- in small, handcrafted batches with the freshest ingredients. Bill Mitchell In 1939, my father, Greek immigrant Chris Mitchell, chose a small corner of Northeast Ohio to open the neighborhood soda fountain and candy store that was to become Mitchell's Fine Candies. There was a movie theater next door, and since this was before the days of in-house concession stands, our sweets emporium became a popular enterprise serving generation after generation of Greater Clevelanders. In 1949, my mother, Penelope, joined my father in the business. As our regular customers grew up, and began traveling to the four corners of the world, Mitchell's Fine Candies followed. For years, our family has been sending mail order shipments to men and women nostalgic for the freshly blended, hand-dipped chocolates that are the hallmark of Mitchell's Fine Candies. Our Internet Store enables us to continue that tradition by combining new world convenience with old world craftsmanship. The candies offered in our Internet Store are the same as those we continue to sell over the counter from our kitchen location on Lee Road, in the heart of Cleveland Heights, Ohio. If you were here in town, my mother would hand-weigh your final selection, topping it off to the selected weight with your favorite chocolate or two, before tying your gift box with an elegant ribbon. We strive to provide our extended family of e-commerce customers with the same level of friendly, personal service.
