FireFish Arts, Inc is a non-profit community-based arts organization located in Lorain, OH. Their mission is to revitalize the city through arts-based creative placemaking, providing pioneering arts programming, community art access and outreach, and critical arts leadership. They support the vital role artists play in their community and offer year-round programs, including the highly anticipated FireFish Festival, where a giant paper mâché fish is burned on the waterfront, and various youth art programs that aim to transform lives and communities through the power of the arts.
With the generous support of individual, business, and corporate sponsors, foundations, and local and state government, including the Ohio Arts Council and GM on Main Street, FireFish Arts is building a vibrant arts culture community in downtown Lorain. They also collaborate with various organizations, such as the Lorain County Public Library and Lorain City Schools, to provide engaging hands-on youth and family arts events, like the FireFish Art in the Park Summer, where participants can create their own make-it-take-it art projects. Currently, their storefront art installation, the Imagine Lorain mural, showcases the diversity and future possibilities of the South Lorain neighborhood.
