The Contemporary Dayton, formerly known as Dayton Visual Arts Center (DVAC), is a renowned contemporary art center located in Dayton, Ohio. Since its establishment in 1991, The Co has been dedicated to producing and presenting original exhibitions, art events, and community partnerships that highlight the work of artists living and working today, with a particular focus on social justice issues. With its three galleries and a retail store called the CoSHOP, The Co aims to make art accessible to all, while also supporting Ohio artists and fostering connections between the arts and the community.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Eva Buttacavoli, The Contemporary Dayton has recently raised funds to expand and move into a new home in downtown Dayton's historic Dayton Arcade. With a mission to provide art for the community and a community for artists, The Co is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in its artistic and intellectual community. Through its exhibitions, programs, and events, The Co offers a platform for artists and art supporters to engage, learn, and find thought-provoking and soul-nourishing artwork.
