About Dayton Metro Library The Dayton Metro Library is a county-wide system of 20 branch libraries, Outreach Services and the Main Library in downtown Dayton. We are one of the oldest and largest public library systems in Ohio, and we're proud to say we rank among the best in the nation! We enjoy the strong support of our community, and we are happy to serve you. The library offers the newest books, movies, and music, adding more than 250, 000 items a year. Along with the latest and most popular titles, the library stocks classics and research materials. If you don't find what you need, ask a librarian. Whether it's school help, business research, or just choosing a good novel, our librarians help you find answers. A library card is your key to a world of information, education and recreation. Getting a library card is easy! Library cards are available free of charge to anyone residing in the state of Ohio. Fill out an application at your nearest library. All you need is identification that verifies your name and address. A parent or guardian must show identification for a child under age 18. Please report a lost or stolen library card immediately so that we can prevent your card from being used by others.
