Cleveland Heights Fire Station #1 is the larger of two fire stations in the city, and has at least nine firefighters on duty at all times to provide EMS and fire protection for the community. The station is equipped with one engine, one ladder and two ambulances. Firefighters prepare for emergency situations in a training area designed for them to practice skills such as searching for people, hooking hoses in the dark and securing ladders to roof tops. Station #1 houses the dispatch station, which handles emergency calls for Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights and University Heights.
