Buckeye Community Health Plan is a managed care organization contracted with the state of Ohio's Department of Job and Family Services to serve Medicaid and other government services program members. Buckeye has developed the expertise to work with Medicaid members to improve their health status and quality of life. Its number one priority is the promotion of healthy lifestyles through preventive health care. Buckeye works to accomplish this goal by partnering with the primary care physicians who oversee the health care of Buckeye members. In Dec. 2003, Centene Corporation acquired the Medicaid assets of Family Health Plan in Lucas County and on Jan. 1, 2004, began providing Medicaid managed care services as Buckeye Community Health Plan. Centene Corporation and its health plans have a long and successful track record offering Medicaid managed care services. Since 1984, Centene Corporation has provided comprehensive managed care services to the Medicaid population and currently operates Medicaid managed care plans in Ohio, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, New Jersey, Texas and Wisconsin. Buckeye Community Health Plan is located in Columbus, Ohio.
