Brunswick, settled in 1815 and incorporated in 1960, is strategically located midway between Cleveland and Akron and is locate in the northern section of Medina County. The city provides easy access to all the major cultural, business, shopping, leisure and entertainment amenities of the metropolitan areas. It offers to its residents Police and Fire Departments, a school system, library, city parks, city services and a diversified range of houses of worship. The city has a Division of Permits and Inspections that oversees the issuance of permits, registration of contractors, inspections of buildings as well as enforcement of the zoning and property maintenance codes. The Division of Engineering for the City of Brunswick is responsible for residential subdivisions, commercial, industrial and multi-family site plans, flood plain administration, assigning of all building addresses within the city and preparation and updating of city's street and zoning maps. Brunswick has been a recipient of Northeast Ohio Business Friendly Community Award.
