History of BATH FITTER BATH FITTER has been North America's leading manufacturer of acrylic bathtub liners, tub surrounds, shower stall liners, and shower stall replacements since 1984. The idea for the organization originated when Brian Cotton was in the process of a frustrating bathroom remodel. Cotton's goal was to create a long-term, sturdy bathtub liner solution that fit perfectly over old, worn bathtubs but offered more than short-term bathtub refinishing and bathtub resurfacing technologies. His brothers, Wayne and Glenn, helped him conduct research on the concept of tub liners before the first bathtub liners were produced in Montreal, Canada. Some of the company's first clients were the Sheraton Centre in Montreal, the Ch teau Laurier in Ottawa and the Royal York in Toronto. By 1987, BATH FITTER moved into its own manufacturing facility and progressed into the residential market. One-piece bath and shower walls, bathtub liners, shower liners, shower enclosures, free-standing tubs and showers-as well as a full-line of color-matched accessories-were subsequently developed and introduced. This enabled BATH FITTER to meet the individual needs of homeowners as well. By the early 1990s, BATH FITTER gained more market penetration when it cultivated a network of franchises and company-owned locations selling acrylic bathtubs and shower enclosures across the United States and Canada. It was a strategy that has enabled steady expansion without sacrificing the company's high standards and commitment to excellence.
