The Ashtabula County Auditor s Office is responsible for assessing real property for taxing purposes. It is also responsible for the county payroll and has other statutory accounting responsibilities. Additionally, the auditor s office is responsible for the distribution of tax receipts through a settlement process to cities, villages, townships and other governmental subdivisions within the Ashtabula County. Its other areas of responsibilities include the issuance of licenses for dogs, kennels, vendors and cigarettes. The Ashtabula County Auditor s Office, in addition, is responsible for administering the tangible personal property tax laws. It keeps an accounting of special assessments, such as ditch assessments and improvement levies, including street paving, curbs, lighting, sidewalks, sewer and water lines. The office is located in Jefferson, Ohio.
