Valley City State University is one of more than 10 campuses that together comprise the North Dakota University System. The campus is spread over an are of more than 55 acres, and is made by various divisions comprising business and information technology, communication arts and social science, school of education and graduate studies, fine arts and mathematics, and science and health and physical education. There is also an effort to provide students with international experience capitalizing on close ties with universities in Mexico and Canada. Students document learning progress with digital portfolios, and every student and faculty member has a notebook computer. The university is located in Valley City, N.D.
