Capital Electric Cooperative has been serving electricity to its consumer-owners in Burleigh and southern Sheridan counties in North Dakota since 1948. The company is a member of Basin Electric Power Cooperative, its wholesale power supplier. It also purchases power from the Central Power Electric Cooperative and Western Area Power Administration. The company is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative, an alliance of more than 600 cooperatives that collectively deliver power and energy solutions to more than 22 million customers every day. A nine-member board of directors comprising consumer-members governs the cooperative. The cooperative owns more than 2,500-miles of distribution and transmission line to serve its consumers.
