Golden Growers Cooperative (GGC) is a cooperative based in Fargo, ND, that was established in 1994 to provide corn growers in the Dakotas and Minnesota with a value-added processing opportunity. With approximately 1,500 members, GGC is a 50-50 partner with Cargill Inc. in the ownership of ProGold, LLC, which operates a corn wet-milling plant near Wahpeton, ND. The plant produces high fructose corn sweeteners, corn gluten feed, corn gluten meal, and corn oil, with the lease agreement extending until December 31, 2026. GGC underwent reorganization in 2009 under Minnesota's statute 308B, allowing it to function as a cooperative while being taxed as a limited liability partnership. As a result, GGC expanded its membership to residents of all 50 states and non-corn producers, although all members are required to fulfill an annual corn delivery obligation.
