Located in Fargo, N.D., Cass County Vector Control district is the community group in charge of making decisions about issues impacting the county with regard to vectors, which are organisms capable of transmitting disease. Its daily activities involve mosquito control, mosquito testing and trap counts, and community spraying and notifications. Established in 1988, the district performs its tasks by using an integrated pest management plan of attack that includes larviciding, adulticiding, surveillance and source reduction. Its field aides monitor and treat more than 11,000 acres of standing water within the county throughout the year. Cass County Vector Control district includes the cities and rural areas within Cass County. It operates under the control of a three-member board appointed by the county commission.
