World Gym Fitness Center, at 504 North McPherson Church Road, in Fayetteville, N.C., is a full-service fitness training center that offers prospective members a free three-day trial. It is a franchise of World Gym International, a company that developed and refined the modern fitness facility. It began to franchise its concept to fitness entrepreneurs throughout the United States beginning in 1981, and is a leader in the fitness industry. World Gyms cater to all walks of life, from the hardcore bodybuilder to the weekend warrior and everyone in between. The majority of World Gyms are between 9,500 and 18,000 square feet. The trend is toward fitness centers of at least 15,000 square feet, with room to add services and profit centers. With the development of new equipment and the popularity of cardio exercise, aerobics classes, tanning beds, private training, nutritional counseling and other member amenities, World Gym owners offer innovations to stimulate member retention.
