Southwestern Community College provides diploma, certificate and degree programs in a variety of academic fields, including art, career technologies and health sciences. Its academic curriculum includes courses in accounting, advertising, graphic design, automotive technology, business administration, civil engineering, cosmetology, culinary arts, criminal justice and early childhood education. The college also administers programs in English, history, nursing, physical education, political science, psychology, sociology and information technology. Additionally, Southwestern Community College offers a respiratory therapy program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). It operates a library that provides a range of books and reference materials. The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It is a part of the North Carolina Community College System, which is a statewide organization that offers postsecondary education.
