While I see patients of all ages with any type of allergy issue, my area of expertise is food allergy. In particular, I focus on a unique allergy to red meat that appears to develop after tick or chigger bites. This allergy is a challenge to diagnose because the symptoms can range from stomach ache to hives and typically occur 4-6 hours after eating beef, pork or lamb. The connections required to make a diagnosis of alpha-gal allergy were only assembled by listening to patients, and it is this approach that guides my care.
