Rise Against Hunger's meal packaging program is a volunteer-based initiative that coordinates the assembly-line packaging of highly nutritious dehydrated meals. The program was created to give dedicated groups the opportunity to participate in a hands-on international hunger relief program. The events also give volunteers hands-on experience in leadership development, team-building, relationship-building, creative problem-solving, and goal-setting and achievement. Since the inception of the meal packaging program in December 2005, these packaged meals have been used primarily to support school feeding programs in developing countries. Hunger is the common thread among the world's most challenging issues. Targeting hunger leverages support to other causes including poverty, disease, education, and the welfare of women and children. We also have opportunities for individual or small groups (2-5 people) to volunteer in our warehouse and get service hours (School, Work, Court ordered or just because). Our volunteers can support our meal packaging operations through various tasks from light cleaning to preparing for events to re-organizing and re-stocking after events. We offer a range of activities with varying levels of physical exertion (e.g., labeling bags to stacking pallets). Please go to our website to find the link to register on our SignUp Genius page!
