The Kannapolis Fire Department works to protect lives and property from fire, natural disasters and other emergencies through education, prevention, fire suppression and mitigation. It serves more than 35,000 people living in an area of over 30 square miles. The department has nearly 50 full-time officers and approximately 40 volunteers. The Kannapolis Fire Department houses engines and brush, equipment and ladder trucks. It employs several fire inspectors and educators who conduct inspections and fire house safety programs in schools, churches and festivals. The department also supports several programs for school children for the prevention of fire, chocking, poison and firearm inquiries and pedestrian and motor vehicle safety. The Kannapolis Fire Department has a communication center that coordinates responses to various emergency and nonemergency calls for service. It is located in Kannapolis, N.C.
