Jacksonville Public Works Department develops, builds and maintains the city's infrastructure, including streetscapes, open spaces, parks, athletic fields, eucalyptus trees, bike trails, roadways, traffic signals and interconnected roads. Located in Jacksonville, N.C., the department s fleet services division offers vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance, automated fueling and other vehicle services. The division also oversees the maintenance of fuel depots, including regular, diesel and natural gas fuels. Its other divisions include redevelopment, housing, planning, energy and sustainable programs. Additionally, the department handles culver realignment and widening projects, development engineering, road-grade separations, landscape maintenance, parking lot and bike trail renovations, recycling and waste slurry programs, and local transportation services.
