Industries of the Blind traces its beginnings to 1933 when the first work program in North Carolina was organized as the Guilford County Association for the Blind. Six employees made mops for commercial sales in a leased storefront. Industries of the Blind is associated with National Industries for the Blind, a private nonprofit corporation that develops new business opportunities and allocates government contracts for its associated agencies. The company manufactures office supplies, such as ink pens, pen refills, clipboards, archboards and transparencies and janitorial supplies, such as brooms, mops and mop refills and cleaning supplies.
