The Greenville Fire/Rescue Department provides a range of education, emergency response, and fire and injury prevention programs. Located in Greenville, N.C., it offers residential inspection, investigation, training and rescue services. The department operates more than six fire stations and employs over 140 firefighters. It additionally operates a variety of equipment, including fire trucks, pumps, foam systems, pierce enforcers, wheeled coaches, skimmers, ambulances, trailers and pumpers. The department has partnerships with the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services, North Carolina Division of Emergency Management, National Emergency Training Center, and North Carolina Department of Insurance Fire and Rescue Division. It is a part of the City of Greenville, which is an industrial and economic center for eastern North Carolina that was founded in 1771.
