The Garner Police Department works to preserve peace, prevent crime and protect the rights, lives and property of residents. It is comprised of more than 65 sworn and non-sworn personnel. The department supports the National Night Out, Crime Stoppers, bicycle safety and community watch programs. The Garner Police Department hosts the School Resource Officer program, which conducts training sessions related to law enforcement, high-risk suspensions, and alcohol and drug prevention, as well as supports life skills programs. It also offers copies of police reports and provides shelter to stray and at-large animals and responds to animal nuisance complaints. The department operates a citizens police academy that provides various opportunities to citizens to participate in the department s operations. The Garner Police Department is a part of government of North Carolina.
